Major Victory for Dimapur Police: Daring Crackdown on Infamous Inter-State Vehicle Theft Gang Leads to 8 Arrests
In a significant breakthrough, Dimapur Police have successfully dismantled an inter-state gang involved in drugging and stealing vehicles, leading to the arrest of eight individuals from Assam, Manipur, and West Bengal. A press release from Dimapur’s Police Commissioner revealed that this operation also resulted in the recovery of two vehicles tied to the gang’s illegal activities.
The investigation was sparked by a missing person report filed at the East Police Station, which unveiled a complex network of criminal operations extending across Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, and West Bengal. The gang employed a cunning modus operandi, pretending to be prospective clients to hire commercial vehicles. Once on board, they would befriend the drivers and offer them drugged food items, rendering them unconscious and enabling the thieves to make off with the vehicles.
The ringleader of this scheme, Shymalendu Roy from West Bengal, was found to have been managing the crimes through a well-coordinated network of associates. Police utilized digital evidence obtained through technical surveillance to track down and apprehend the gang members. The arrests included two individuals from Manipur, four from Assam, and two from Dimapur.
The East Police Station’s diligent team, led by Investigating Officer ASI Ikato Sema and under the supervision of ACP East Imkongsangba Jamir, effectively brought this operation to fruition.
