Exciting Transformation: Air India Unveils New Era with Vistara Aircraft Launching November 12!
Air India has announced that following its merger with Vistara, Vistara’s aircraft will operate under a new four-digit Air India code beginning with “2” from November 12, 2024. For example, Vistara’s flight UK 955 will be rebranded as AI 2955, simplifying identification for customers booking through Air India’s platform.
Despite the merger, the unique Vistara in-flight experience will be preserved, including its distinctive menu, service, and crew. Vistara’s loyalty program members will transition to Air India’s “Flying Returns,” which will now be known as the “Maharaja Club.”
This strategic consolidation is part of Air India’s comprehensive fleet upgrade. Notably, Vistara’s catering services will be introduced on Air India flights. Additionally, Air India has expanded its widebody fleet with six A350 aircraft now servicing routes between Delhi and London, with plans to extend service to Delhi-New York. Furthermore, Air India is executing a retrofit program for its narrowbody fleet, aiming to refurbish 27 aircraft by mid-2025.
Passengers stand to benefit significantly from this merger, enjoying enhanced connectivity to over 90 destinations. The airline’s extensive network will further expand with access to 800 additional destinations via Air India’s codeshare and interline partners.
This merger marks a significant step in Air India’s strategy to enhance service quality and expand its global reach, positioning itself as a formidable player in the international aviation landscape.
