Turmoil in Telangana: Court Battles and Tight Timelines Fuel Anxiety Among Group-I Job Aspirants
In Hyderabad’s Ashok Nagar, Group-I job aspirants recently protested, urging the postponement of the Telangana Public Service Commission mains exam. Their demands stem from limited preparation time and unresolved issues with G.O.29, which alters the reservation policy and impacts the exam’s merit list. This, combined with over 14 pending High Court cases, has led to uncertainty and concern among candidates. Students argue that conducting the exam under these circumstances could lead to complications, referencing a similar situation in Andhra Pradesh where exams had to be reconducted. Aspirants are finding their study routines disrupted, with many speculating on whether the exams will proceed as scheduled.
The controversy centers around the provisions of G.O.29, contrasting with the previous G.O.55, as G.O.29 includes additional candidates from the merit list to correct reserved category shortfalls, a change that candidates argue limits opportunities for reserved categories. Notably, 22 cases related to the Group-I exam are pending, adding to the pressure on officials to reconsider the exam timing. With the exam date approaching, it’s unclear if authorities will heed the aspirants’ calls for rescheduling.
