Dr. Anamika Ray Memorial Trust has been at the forefront of advancing media education in India through its annual national media lecture series. Since inception, the series has attracted distinguished voices in the field of media and communication from around the globe, emphasizing the Trust’s commitment to enhancing media educational standards.
The inaugural lecture in 2017 featured Prof. Mohan Jyoti Dutta from the National University of Singapore, setting a high academic benchmark for future events. 2020 saw Dr. R. Sreedher, an Emeritus Professor and a veteran media professional, at the helm of the lecture, further enriching the series with his extensive expertise in Indian media circles. The 2021 edition featured Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhury, a prominent media educator, reflecting the series’ ongoing dialogue with diverse educational frameworks. The 6th edition centered around the provocative theme, “How much social is the social media,” delivered by Prof. Sachchidanand Joshi, notable for his multidisciplinary expertise, currently positioned at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts in New Delhi.
The 2022 lecture adapted to the digital world with an online session led by Dr. Gulam Rahman, the former Chief Information Commissioner of Bangladesh, showcasing the Trust’s resilience and adaptability in continuing its critical discourse amid global challenges. Each edition consolidates the Trust’s mission to foster a robust platform for knowledge exchange in media education, making it an anticipated event in academic calendars each year.
