Shocking Revelations: OTT Platforms Accelerating Moral Decay, Urgent Regulation Needed Says RSS Chief
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has called for regulatory intervention to address the “moral corruption” caused by content on OTT platforms. In a speech at the RSS’s Vijayadashmi rally in Nagpur, Bhagwat criticized the indecent nature of some OTT content, asserting that it requires legal regulation. Highlighting the importance of instilling values through education, he referenced the National Education Policy’s focus on value-based learning. However, he stressed that the policy’s success hinges on teachers serving as role models, suggesting the creation of a new system for teacher orientation.
Bhagwat also emphasized the responsible use of social media, urging users to leverage these platforms to unite society and promote values, rather than spread obscenity and discord. He pointed out that a child’s character is largely shaped between the ages of 3 and 12, influenced by family interactions and the behavior of elders. According to Bhagwat, during this formative period, qualities like self-esteem, patriotism, morality, and a sense of duty take root. He urged society to recognize these developmental stages and begin nurturing these qualities at home.
This address underscores Bhagwat’s focus on cultural values and the role of education and media in shaping societal norms. His remarks reflect ongoing concerns about the impact of rapidly evolving digital content on societal values and call for a collaborative approach to nurture morality and unity from a young age.
