Compassionate Leadership: Pradyot Kishore Debbarma’s Heartfelt Promise to Support Tripura Flood Victims
Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha party and a royal scion of Tripura, recently toured several villages in the South District to provide crucial financial support to families impacted by severe landslides and floods. Among the villages he visited was Kayaram, where he met with the wife and sister of Biramani Tripura, a victim whose body was discovered weeks after a catastrophic landslide. Demonstrating compassion and commitment, Debbarma extended financial aid to Biramani’s wife and urged the local administration to build her a new home, given that she has no children to support her.
Debbarma’s concern for flood-affected families extended to the village of Jashmura, Rajnagar, where he visited Sumati Tripura. Her husband, Gainarai Reang, tragically lost his life in a landslide during the August floods. Understanding the family’s urgent needs, Debbarma personally donated Rs 50,000 to Sumati and assured her of continued assistance in the future, underscoring his commitment to helping those in dire straits.
This compassionate outreach follows Debbarma’s earlier pledge, announced on October 9, to assist four flood-impacted villages in the South District. He had promised to personally deliver Rs 50,000 in relief funds to each affected family, reinforcing his dedication to aiding flood victims.
The August floods wreaked havoc across the region, resulting in extensive damage and significant loss of life. Communities are still grappling with the aftermath and striving to rebuild their lives. Debbarma’s actions highlight not only a personal mission of mercy but also his resolve to ensure that support reaches those in need, demonstrating leadership and empathy amid crisis. His visit brought much-needed relief and hope to the flood-ravaged region, showcasing a leader deeply committed to his community’s welfare and recovery.
