Biden’s Re-Election Campaign Hit with Embarrassing Misstep: Struggles to Find Words

President Biden aimed to stabilize his re-election campaign by engaging in interviews with two Black radio hosts, aired on Thursday. However, he encountered several verbal stumbles. During one interview, he incorrectly stated he was “the first Black woman to serve with a Black president,” while attempting to express pride in serving under President Obama. Additionally, in a July Fourth speech at the White House, Biden struggled with a story about former President Trump, calling him “one of our colleagues” before abruptly ending the anecdote.

The missteps occurred on Philadelphia’s WURD radio, where Biden also erred in claiming he was the first president elected statewide in Delaware, likely intending to say he was the first Catholic elected in the state.

Despite criticism, Biden’s campaign attributes the scrutiny to media absurdity. Spokesman Ammar Moussa defended the president, emphasizing his record, including historic appointments to the federal bench. The interviews were part of Biden’s strategy to mitigate concerns stemming from a lackluster debate against Trump, which caused unease among Democrats about his age and viability as a candidate.

During an appearance on “The Earl Ingram Show,” aimed at Black listeners, Biden struggled with coherence, especially while discussing the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity and Trump’s tariff proposals. He also refrained from using an epithet for Trump, reflecting his emotion over his late son Beau’s death from brain cancer, which Biden attributes to military service.

Biden acknowledged his “bad night” performance in the debate, reiterating his commitment to proving his capability. He is scheduled for further high-profile interviews and events, signaling ongoing efforts to reassure voters, donors, and activists about his capability to lead.
