Honoring Legends: Telangana Considers Naming Adibatla ORR Approach Road ‘Ratan Tata Marg’
Telangana IT and Industry Minister D. Sridhar Babu announced that the state government is considering naming the approach road from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Adibatla after the late industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, who passed away on October 9, 2024. Minister Babu praised Tata’s exceptional contributions to the Indian industry, particularly in fostering high-end manufacturing and the development of the aerospace sector in Hyderabad. Underlining his legacy, Babu recounted a letter exchange between Tata and the former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy following Andhra Pradesh’s loss of the Nano car project to Gujarat in 2008. Tata envisioned bigger prospects for Hyderabad, which led to the establishment of the Sikorsky helicopter project in Adibatla. This project, anchored by Tata Advanced Systems, has since evolved into a global aerospace hub. Highlighting Tata’s admiration for the ORR, Babu suggested that naming the approach road after him would be a fitting tribute. Expressing admiration for Tata, Babu stated, “May he rest in peace and continue to inspire us.”
