Urgent Breakthrough: Security Forces’ Intense Operation in Bishnupur Uncovers Dangerous Weapons Cache
On October 7, 2024, security forces launched major search operations in the vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, specifically targeting Gelbung village in Bishnupur District. These efforts resulted in the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition, underscoring the region’s volatile security situation.
During the operations, authorities seized an array of arms, including an AK-47 rifle with a magazine, a 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifle, a 12 Bore pistol, and a 9 mm CMG with its magazine. Additionally, they found a 5.56 mm INSAS LMG magazine, four live rounds of 9 mm CMG ammunition, one 12 Bore cartridge, and several grenades including five No 36 hand grenades and one tear smoke grenade.
The operation also uncovered materials indicating the use of explosives, including five detonators, four tube launchers with arming rings, and a modified IED weighing 2.5 kg. Security forces further confiscated protective gear such as two bulletproof jackets, three bulletproof plates, two pairs of jungle shoes, and a helmet. This strategic crackdown is part of a larger initiative to bolster safety and security in the region’s at-risk areas amid ongoing tensions.
In tandem with these search operations, security forces ensured the safe movement of essential goods along key highways. They monitored 190 vehicles on NH-37 and 214 on NH-2, implementing stringent security protocols to guarantee safe passage.
This comprehensive approach highlights the concerted efforts by security agencies to maintain order and security in the area, thereby addressing both immediate threats and facilitating normalcy in daily life. The operation’s success not only ensures the reduction of illegal arms in circulation but also aids in reinforcing regional stability and safety.
