Devastating Blow: Israel’s Precise Strikes on Hezbollah Command Centers Eliminate Over 50 Militants
Jerusalem, October 9 (IANS): In a significant escalation, Israel’s military has conducted extensive airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, reportedly killing over 50 militants. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, announced during a televised briefing that the attacks successfully hit and destroyed numerous underground command centers used by Hezbollah’s Southern Front. These locations reportedly housed the commanders orchestrating operations against Israel.
Among those killed were six senior commanders, including Ali Ahmad Ismail, identified as the artillery leader in the Bint Jbeil area, and Ahmad Hassan Nazal, the head of the attack sector for Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Forces, according to reports from the Xinhua news agency. Hagari noted that Hezbollah had built an extensive network of underground infrastructure in southern Lebanon, intended to target IDF soldiers during ground engagements and launch attacks within Israel.
The airstrikes took place across more than 125 sites in southern Lebanon over a 24-hour period, focusing on areas where the Southern Front and Radwan Forces operate. In response, Hezbollah allegedly fired over 170 rockets across the border into Israel on Tuesday.
This surge in military activity has exacerbated an already dire situation, with Lebanese authorities reporting that the total number of deaths since the beginning of these hostilities has surpassed 2,100, with over 10,000 people injured. The conflict continues to escalate, raising concerns over further regional instability.
Observers are closely monitoring developments, as the international community urges both sides to exercise restraint and seek peaceful resolutions. As tensions rise, the potential for broader implications looms, with fears that continued violence could spill over into neighboring regions.
