Cleanliness Drive Marks Gandhi Jayanti in Agartala School
Agartala, October 7, 2024: In a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, the Central Bureau of Communication’s State Wing, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, spearheaded the Swachhata Hi Seva initiative at Purva Jogendranagar Netaji Subhash Colony High School. The program commenced with a spirited cleanliness drive in and around the school.
The main event was inaugurated in the school auditorium by Ruma Das, a Corporator from the Agartala Municipal Corporation. Prominent figures such as Kripa Sankar Yadav, Additional Director General of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the North Eastern Region, marked their presence. They were joined by Subhashish Chanda from Akashvani Agartala Center, Sudipta Kar from the Central Bureau of Communication Agartala, and Manoj Debnath, the Interim Headmaster of the school.
The ceremony began with the symbolic act of watering saplings. In her address, Ruma Das underscored the significance of cleanliness, likening it to purity and heavenly bliss. She advocated for maintaining transparency for a healthier society and personal life, and she highlighted the role of tree planting in securing environmental health for future generations.
Kripa Sankar Yadav tackled the critical issue of river pollution, labeling it a major national concern. He invoked the historical demise of the Indus civilization due to environmental neglect, urging students to embrace habits that foster cleanliness, such as trimming nails and keeping their surroundings tidy.
Research insights shared by Subhashish Chanda emphasized that upholding transparency and cleanliness can avert 90% of diseases, bolstering overall health.
Concluding the program, guests participated in planting saplings, and the event also featured a quiz and drawing competition focused on transparency, with awards to honor winners.
The Swachhata Hi Seva program successfully engaged the school community, promoting the values of cleanliness and environmental consciousness in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals.
