Shocking Victory: Security Forces Heroically Defeat 31 Dangerous Maoists
A significant operation against Maoist insurgents unfolded in the dense, inaccessible forests of Abujhmad, Bastar, Chhattisgarh, leading to a critical blow to left-wing extremism in the region. Based on intelligence indicating the presence of approximately 50 Maoists, including high-profile figures, security forces initiated a meticulously planned mission. The joint operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) targeted Maoists hiding between Thulthuli and Nendur villages.
Notable Maoists killed in the operation include Kamlesh alias RK, a most-wanted commander active across multiple states, and Niti alias Urmila, a key spokesperson within the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee. The coordinated attack resulted in the deaths of 31 Maoists, recovery of substantial weaponry, and the weakening of Maoist command structures.
This recent operation is part of a broader national strategy against Maoist insurgency, reinforced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit in August. The strategy has shown significant success, with over 180 Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh this year alone. The regional efforts are complemented by over 212 arrests and 201 surrenders in Bastar during the monsoon season, reflecting a marked decline in Maoist influence.
This encounter represents the largest success against Maoists since the major operations in Kanker in April and Narayanpur-Kanker in August, which together resulted in the deaths of over 30 Maoists, including top leaders. The government maintains a firm stance on combating left-wing extremism, urging Maoists to surrender or face comprehensive security operations. This decisive approach aims to eradicate the Maoist presence and restore peace and security in the affected regions.
