Breaking: Triumph as Security Forces Successfully Recover Arms in Manipur’s Hill and Valley Districts
Security forces in Manipur have intensified their efforts to maintain safety and order in the region through comprehensive search and area domination operations in the state’s vulnerable hill and valley districts. A significant breakthrough occurred in Churachandpur District’s Khengmol hill, where Manipur Police and Assam Rifles successfully confiscated a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. The haul included a tear gas gun, a homemade 9 mm pistol with a magazine, five 12-bore single barrels, eight live rounds, 13 improvised mortar shells, and five heavy mortars.
In parallel with these operations, the efficient movement of essential goods along National Highways 37 and 2 has been ensured, with 172 and 169 vehicles passing smoothly each day, backed by stringent security measures. Security convoys were strategically stationed in sensitive regions to guarantee the safe transit of these vehicles, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to maintaining stability in the area.
Moreover, a network of 110 checkpoints has been established across various districts to bolster security vigilance. Notably, no detentions were reported during these operations, reflecting the preventive rather than punitive focus of the security measures. The primary aim is to sustain law and order amid ongoing challenges.
In related efforts, Manipur Police have also targeted illegal activities by destroying over 10 acres of suspected poppy plants in Tamenglong, addressing the region’s concerns regarding illicit drug cultivation.
These concerted actions by security forces are part of an overarching strategy to reinforce peace and security in Manipur, ensuring the safety of its citizens and facilitating the unhindered flow of essential supplies. Through proactive and strategic operations, authorities continue their commitment to restoring and maintaining normalcy in the region.
