Major Judicial Shake-Up in Nagaland Sparks Controversy: High Court’s Bold Move
In a significant reshuffle within the Nagaland Judicial Service (NJS), the Gauhati High Court’s Kohima Bench announced today the transfer of several key judicial officers. Neiko Akami, who served as the District & Sessions Judge in Phek, has been appointed as the Member Secretary of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority, replacing Victo Sema. Sema has been reassigned as the Principal District & Sessions Judge in Mokokchung.
In another move, N. Longshithung Ezung, previously the Principal District & Sessions Judge in Tuensang, will now serve in the same capacity in Dimapur. He takes over from Inalo Zhimomi, who has been transferred to serve as the District & Sessions Judge in Mon, succeeding Tucuno Vamuzo. Vamuzo, in turn, will now assume the position of District & Sessions Judge in Phek, Neiko Akami’s former role.
This chain of transfers is part of a broader strategic realignment intended to enhance the judicial efficiency across the state. In addition to these primary appointments, other judges have been assigned additional responsibilities to ensure the smooth functioning of the judicial duties post-reshuffle.
The changes are expected to bring a fresh perspective and renewed vigor to various districts, as these seasoned officers transition into their new roles. This judicial realignment underscores the commitment to maintaining a robust legal infrastructure in Nagaland, ensuring that justice delivery remains effective and accessible.
The judicial system in Nagaland is closely observing these developments, as stakeholders and the public anticipate the impact of these strategic transfers on the overall judicial process across the state.
