Urgent Call to Action: Women’s Commission Chief Raises Alarm Over Poor Conditions at Narayana Women’s College, Bachupally
Telangana State Women’s Commission chairperson, Nerella Sharada, conducted an unannounced inspection of Narayana Women’s College in Bachupally on October 2, 2024. The inspection revealed alarming conditions that prompted immediate action against the college’s management. Ms. Sharada highlighted the stark dichotomy between the institution’s outward presentation and the harsh realities for students, drawing attention to the unsanitary kitchen and washroom conditions.
She expressed concerns over parents, some of whom take loans to finance their children’s education, being oblivious to the subpar conditions their children face. “From the outside, everything looks well-organized, but parents need to be informed about the poor conditions within,” Ms. Sharada stated to the media. Furthermore, she criticized the institution’s tendency to focus solely on achieving competitive exam ranks, neglecting student welfare.
This incident underscores the crucial need for transparency in educational institutions and accountability towards ensuring safe and healthy environments for students. The situation has sparked broader discussions about oversight and the prioritization of student well-being over institutional prestige.
