Shocking Truth: Government’s Inability to Conduct Fair Exams Exposed!
VPP Criticizes Government Over Irregularities in Civil Services and Nursing Exams
By Our Reporter
SHILLONG, Oct 2: Allegations of irregularities continue to cloud recruitment examinations in Meghalaya. Amid ongoing controversy surrounding the Meghalaya Civil Services (preliminary) examinations, fresh concerns have emerged regarding the recruitment of nurses by the Meghalaya Medical Services Recruitment Board (MMSRB). The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has raised significant concerns about the NPP-led MDA 2.0 government’s capability and the efficacy of various recruitment boards in conducting transparent and error-free exams.
VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh expressed strong disapproval of how competitive examinations are managed by entities like the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) and MMSRB. Myrboh criticized the government’s persistent failure to uphold integrity in these examinations. According to him, the MPSC has historically struggled to operate as an independent entity, losing the trust of job-seeking youths due to a lack of professionalism, efficiency, and transparency. He questioned the MPSC’s adherence to procedures, such as the formation of moderation boards or the existence of a confidential section to safeguard the integrity of exams.
Myrboh emphasized that it is the current government’s responsibility to restore public trust in the MPSC and MMSRB. He stressed the importance of appointing reputable individuals of high integrity as chairpersons and members of the MPSC to ensure the body functions with the desired efficiency, transparency, and accountability. He criticized the present government, suggesting it often favors personal loyalty over merit in appointments, reflecting poorly on its commitment to genuine reform.
The VPP’s critique highlights the urgent need for reforms to instill confidence in the recruitment process, crucial for aspiring candidates in Meghalaya seeking fair and meritorious employment opportunities.
