Bollywood star Aamir Khan recently visited his ex-wife Reena Dutta following the passing of her father on Wednesday. Aamir was seen leaving Reena’s residence in Mumbai, visibly emotional. The actor’s mother, Zeenat Hussain, also accompanied him to offer their condolences. Despite the somber occasion, Aamir took a moment to acknowledge the paparazzi gathered outside before departing in his car.
According to Indian Express, Reena lives in the same building complex as Aamir. The couple originally tied the knot in 1986 and later divorced in 2002. They have two children together: a daughter, Ira, who has ventured into theatre direction, and a son, Junaid, who is following in his father’s footsteps in the acting industry.
In a 1999 interview with Simi Garewal, Aamir revealed that Reena’s parents were initially upset about their relationship. The couple decided to elope when Aamir was in his early 20s and Reena was still a teenager. “It wasn’t out of disrespect or rebellion, it was more out of insecurity,” Aamir explained.
After his divorce from Reena, Aamir married filmmaker Kiran Rao; however, they separated in 2021. Despite his divorces, Aamir remains on good terms with both Reena and Kiran. He shared insights about his relationships in a podcast with Rhea Chakraborty, stating, “I don’t like living alone, I need a partner. I am not a loner; I like companionship. I am very close to both my ex-wives Reena and Kiran, we are like one family. Life is unpredictable, so how can we trust it? So marriages working depends from person to person.”
