MMC Wins Best Performing ULB; Aongza Ward Recognized as Top Performer at Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 Event

The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) held the culmination programme for Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 on October 2 at its conference hall, marking the end of a month-long cleanliness drive. The campaign aimed at promoting environmental awareness and fostering cleanliness at both individual and community levels.

Chumlamo Humtsoe, ADC and CEO of MMC, who served as the campaign’s Captain, presented a report highlighting the active participation of citizens and the dedication of sanitation workers. Humtsoe praised the ward authorities for their various initiatives and encouraged them to continue their noble work.

The event featured a highlight with the announcement of the "Waste to Art" competition results. Innovative artworks made from waste materials were showcased, with Lijaba Lijen clinching the first prize. Aongza Ward and Sangtemla Ward secured the second and third prizes, respectively.

Aien Amri, Brand Ambassador for SHS 2024, announced Aongza Ward as the Best Performing Ward. Aongza Ward received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a certificate of appreciation for their efforts.

The programme was chaired by Kilepchiba, MMC Sanitation Inspector and Nodal Officer for the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). The event began with an invocation led by Lolentsoba, Superintendent of MMC, and concluded with a vote of thanks from Lanuakum, Deputy Chairperson of MMC.

Notably, Mokokchung Municipal Council was awarded the title of Best Performing Urban Local Body (ULB) in the state at a ceremony held in Kohima.

The event was attended by MMC councillors, ward chairmen, ward sanitation committee convenors, and MMC sanitation workers, all of whom played a crucial role in the success of the cleanliness drive.
