Act Now: Tripura CM Manik Saha’s Passionate Plea to Ditch Single-Use Plastics and Embrace Cleanliness
Tripura Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, urged citizens to prioritize cleanliness and curb the use of single-use plastics. His call came on Wednesday during the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in front of Ujjayanta Palace, commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th birth anniversary. Addressing the public, Dr. Saha underscored the importance of environmental stewardship.
“As we engage in the Swachhata Abhiyan, it is crucial for people to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and within their hearts and minds. We are striving to make Tripura a ‘Plastic Mukta’ (plastic-free) state,” he proclaimed.
He also reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to this cause, noting, “The promises made by PM Modi will be gradually fulfilled. While everything cannot be achieved overnight, with collective effort, we can make significant progress.”
Dr. Saha praised the Agartala Municipal Corporation for its exemplary cleanliness efforts, recognized nationally for the second time. He assured citizens that the government focuses on resolving fundamental public issues while maintaining cleanliness across the state and its capital.
Additionally, Dr. Saha highlighted the ongoing BJP membership drive in Tripura, aiming to enroll 12 lakh members. “In 2019, we had around 6.5 lakh members, and this time, we are confident of reaching our target,” he stated.
