Empowering Dreams: 25,000 Youths to Receive Life-Changing Aid for Thriving Entrepreneurship
Chief Minister Launches Atmanirbhar Assam Initiative to Empower Youth Entrepreneurs
Guwahati: The Assam government is gearing up to distribute the first installment of financial support through the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam initiative, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among the state’s youth. The distribution event, scheduled for Monday in Guwahati, will be officiated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
An official disclosed that over 25,000 youths will receive an initial grant of Rs 75,000. Applicants were categorized into two groups: those with general qualifications and those holding professional degrees in fields such as medicine and engineering. Specifically, 25,064 youths in the general category will receive Rs 75,000 each, alongside 174 professionally qualified youths.
Following a training program for the selected youths in November, a second installment of Rs 25,000 will be disbursed. Subsequent financial assistance is contingent upon business progress assessments by the state administration. General qualification holders will receive Rs 1 lakh in the third installment, while professionally qualified individuals will get Rs 4 lakh.
Chief Minister Sarma emphasized the state’s commitment to bolstering entrepreneurship through this initiative. Notably, selected youths will be exempt from repaying Rs 1 lakh. The remaining amount can be repaid over five years in manageable monthly installments of Rs 5,000. Sarma expressed confidence in the youths’ potential to establish successful businesses and later benefit from the Prime Minister Mudra scheme.
Looking ahead, Sarma announced the imminent launch of the second phase of the Atmanirbhar Assam initiative, which aims to provide financial assistance to an additional 75,000 youths, further nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit in Assam.
