Intensified Security Operations Yield Significant Arms Seizures in Manipur
In a concerted effort to combat insurgency and promote peace in Manipur, security forces have ramped up area domination and search operations in the state’s vulnerable hill and valley districts. Joint teams from the Manipur Police and the Indian Army led these operations, resulting in notable recoveries of arms and explosives.
During a key operation near Karong Bridge in Imphal East District, security personnel recovered two 20 kg improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a 2.5 kg IED, and 50 meters of cordtex, underscoring the persistent threat posed by armed groups.
In another operation in Aigejang village, Kangpokpi District, forces discovered a substantial cache of sophisticated weaponry, including a 7.62mm sniper rifle with a scope, two 9mm pistols, a bolt-action rifle, 17 live rounds of ammunition, four No. 36 hand grenades, an IED, and two picket grenades.
These discoveries highlight the volatile security situation in Manipur, revealing the dangers posed by the presence of heavy armaments in civilian areas. Security forces are intensifying efforts to eliminate insurgent activities and ensure the safety of residents in both hill and valley districts.
