Shah Launches India’s First LNG Train, Praises PM’s Rail Revolution
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had transformed Indian Railways, urging the public to challenge the Congress Party to substantiate its claims with facts and figures. He made the remarks at a gathering in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, after flagging off the country’s first train powered by liquefied natural gas from Sabarmati railway station.
Accusing Congress of “talking nonsense,” Shah alleged that the party’s previous tenure was marked by fraud, scams and corruption worth ₹12 lakh crore. He contrasted this with his claim that no one had accused Modi of corruption in 12 years. “The people of the country should ask them to discuss with figures,” he said.
Focusing on railway development, Shah credited Modi with launching the dedicated freight corridor, rapid rail network and premium stations. He also said the inauguration of a hydrogen-powered train had placed India among a select group of four countries. Referring to the period before 2014, he claimed the country was controlled by a single political family.
During the programme, Shah also flagged off a WAG-12 electric locomotive and dedicated, inaugurated and laid foundation stones for major railway projects worth more than ₹1,500 crore. These include the doubling of rail lines, the Kavach train-protection system, automatic signalling and a maintenance shed for WAG-12 locomotives.
