Oil Tanker Blazes After Head-On Crash with LPG on NH-37, Assam
An oil tanker carrying petroleum products was completely gutted after catching fire following a head-on collision with an LPG cylinder-laden vehicle on National Highway 37 at Rajabari in Bokakhat, Assam. The tanker, which was reported to be travelling from the Numaligarh Refinery, struck the LPG-laden vehicle on the highway, triggering a blaze that consumed the tanker.
Following the impact the tanker was fully destroyed by fire, while the LPG vehicle sustained partial damage. Local residents alerted authorities and police and fire and emergency service personnel rushed to the scene. Firefighters subsequently brought the blaze under control.
The accident caused a major traffic disruption on NH-37, leaving vehicles travelling between Upper and Lower Assam stranded for a considerable period as emergency teams worked to secure the area and clear the wreckage.
