Breaking: US Strikes in Iran Hit Bridges, Airport — Report
Deadly U.S. strikes overnight struck multiple targets in southern Iran, hitting an airport, a railway station in the port city of Bandar Abbas and two bridges near the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state media reported on Friday. Iranian news agencies cited by state outlets said at least two people were killed and four were wounded in the attacks.
State television IRIB said on Telegram that “three explosions were heard around the airport and at least one American enemy projectile hit Iranshahr airport” in the country’s southeast. The broadcast did not provide further operational details or an immediate U.S. comment.
The Mehr news agency reported via Telegram that the Bandar Abbas Railway Junction Station had been targeted “a few minutes ago,” and that two Iranians were injured in that strike. Officials quoted by state media also said airstrikes damaged two bridges in Hormozgan Province.
IRNA, the official news agency, was cited as reporting the casualty toll of two dead and four injured. All casualty and damage figures in these reports come from Iranian state sources and have not been independently verified.
The strikes, if confirmed, would mark a significant escalation given the proximity of the strikes to the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international oil shipping lane that has long been a strategic flashpoint. The details and motives behind the reported U.S. strikes were not explained in the Iranian statements published so far.
