Acclaimed Odia actor, singer and former legislator Akash Das Nayak has released a devotional offering titled “JAYA JAGANNATH JAYA” under the Sidharth Music label, timed to coincide with the Rath Yatra celebrations across Odisha. The single, composed and written by music director Prem Anand and produced by Subhrajyoti Das Nayak, is presented as a tribute to Mahaprabhu Jagannath and a celebration of Odisha’s spiritual and cultural traditions.
More than a ritual hymn, “JAYA JAGANNATH JAYA” is pitched as an emotional expression of faith, gratitude and surrender. Prem Anand’s composition provides a melodic framework for Akash Das Nayak’s soulful vocals, which the release says capture the essence of devotion to Lord Jagannath. The song aims to connect with listeners both musically and spiritually.
The project is a close collaboration: Subhrajyoti Das Nayak, who produced the album, is also Akash’s spouse and co-visionary for the release. Speaking about the inspiration, Subhrajyoti said, “For us, this is much more than a musical project. It is a humble offering at the divine feet of Mahaprabhu Jagannath. Rath Yatra is an emotion that connects every Odia across the world, and we wanted to express that devotion through music. If this song brings peace, faith, and positive energy to even one listener, we will consider our efforts truly blessed.”
Akash Das Nayak framed the work as part of an artist’s responsibility to inspire and strengthen emotional and spiritual bonds in society. He described music’s power to unite people, transcend differences and draw them closer to the divine, calling “JAYA JAGANNATH JAYA” one of the most spiritually fulfilling projects of his career.
The music video pairs devotional imagery with cinematic storytelling, filmed against the backdrop of the Jagannath Temple and the Rath Yatra’s chariot processions to evoke Odisha’s living traditions. The visual narrative, directed by Smruti R with music production by Christo Mathews, seeks to mirror the song’s themes of humility, compassion and surrender.
Positioned as both a cultural tribute and a devotional message, the release aims to resonate with devotees across Odisha, India and the global Odia diaspora. Fans can view “JAYA JAGANNATH JAYA” on YouTube. Jai Jagannath.
