Security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and a bulletproof jacket during a search operation in and around Tamei, along the IT Road under Tamei Police Station in Tamenglong district, Manipur, on July 7. The operation led to the seizure of three carbine machine guns (each with a magazine), two .32-calibre pistols (each with a magazine), one AK-47 assault rifle, three lathod guns, two barrel-loaded guns and 82 live rounds of ammunition. The recovered items were taken into custody in accordance with prescribed legal procedures.
Officials said the search targeted several adjoining locations in the general Tamei area. Security sources described the haul as significant given the mix of automatic and country-made weapons, and confirmed that the arms and ammunition are now in official custody as part of the ongoing case.

Investigators are examining whether the cache was intended for militant groups, criminal networks or other actors, and are pursuing leads to identify suspects and possible supply routes.
