Manipur Launches VB G-RAM-G – Rs 300 Daily Boost for Rural Workers
Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh on Thursday, July 2 launched the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB G-RAM-G) in the state, saying the scheme will bolster rural livelihoods and expand employment opportunities as part of efforts to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. The launch, held in Imphal, was organised by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and attended by officials and stakeholders involved in implementing the programme.
At the launch programme, Singh announced an increase in the daily wage under the scheme from Rs 283 to Rs 300, saying the rise will provide enhanced financial support to rural workers. The adjustment is intended to improve immediate income security for labourers engaged in scheme-funded works and related rural activities.
Singh described VB G-RAM-G as an initiative aimed at strengthening livelihood security in rural areas while promoting inclusive and sustainable development. He expressed confidence that the mission would reinforce the rural economy and align with the state’s broader development agenda, contributing to the national target of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Officials present at the event included representatives from the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj along with local stakeholders who will oversee the scheme’s rollout. The government said implementation plans will prioritise projects that generate work, improve local infrastructure, and support long-term livelihood opportunities for rural households.
