U-V Resolve ADR Centre Launches in Guwahati — A Gamechanger
Guwahati, June 28 — A new Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) centre, U-V Resolve, opened in Guwahati on June 28 with the aim of resolving civil and commercial disputes outside the formal court system to deliver faster justice and ease the load on courts. The facility was inaugurated at Central Mall, Christian Basti, by Hon’ble Justice Ujjal Bhuyan of the Supreme Court of India, organisers said.
Founders described U-V Resolve as the first institution of its kind in the North-East, designed to operate alongside the formal judiciary and resolve matters within a fixed timeframe. They said the centre will offer arbitration, mediation, conciliation and other ADR processes to provide parties with alternatives to lengthy litigation.
ADR mechanisms focus on negotiated, mutually acceptable outcomes rather than protracted court battles. According to legal experts affiliated with the centre, prolonged litigation consumes substantial time and resources, while ADR provides a more practical, time-bound route to settlement that can better protect business and personal relationships.
The report highlights several advantages of arbitration and related ADR pathways: parties can voluntarily appoint a neutral arbitrator; court procedures are generally avoided, reducing delay and expense; proceedings are confidential, which helps preserve reputations and commercial ties; and because settlements are reached by agreement, relationships are less likely to be damaged. The organisers also emphasised that arbitral awards are legally enforceable and can carry the same binding effect as a court decree.
Organisers and legal practitioners said U-V Resolve aims to cut delays for citizens and businesses, relieve pressure on the courts, and offer a modern, effective alternative for dispute resolution in Assam and the wider North-East.
