PM Modi Waits 45 Minutes at Delhi Airport; NTA Calls Leak Video Fake
Prime Minister Narendra Modi delayed his departure from Delhi’s airport by 45 minutes on Sunday (June 22, 2026), choosing to wait in the airport lounge so his VVIP security convoy would not disrupt road access for NEET aspirants. The Prime Minister’s flight from Kolkata landed at 1:15 pm; with candidate entry cut-off at 1:30 pm and the exam due to start at 2:00 pm, he remained inside until after the exam gates had closed and the test was underway.
Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar praised the decision on social media, saying, “For PM Narendra Modi, power means responsibility. Choosing to wait at the airport so NEET aspirants could travel smoothly reflects a leadership style that puts citizens first.”
While the examination proceeded on the ground, the National Testing Agency (NTA) confronted a parallel online threat. The NTA issued a statement dismissing a viral video circulating on Telegram and X that alleged a question-paper leak or illicit sale ahead of the exam, calling the clip “fake and fraudulent.”
“Manufacturing and deliberately circulating such misinformation to defraud or alarm students is a serious offense,” the NTA said, and its statement was shared by news agency ANI on X on June 22, 2026.
The testing authority said it is coordinating with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and local law enforcement to trace and prosecute those responsible for the digital hoax, and officials urged parents and students to rely only on the official NTA website for authentic updates.
The reassessment came after the original May 3 test was cancelled following integrity breaches, and the NTA said it had bolstered security for Sunday’s exam. Measures included more than 38,000 frisking staff and 48,448 biometric personnel managing face authentication across over 5,000 centres in India and 14 international locations, around 1.38 lakh CCTV cameras for real-time surveillance, and over 51,000 electronic signal jammers. State police, paramilitary units and the Indian Air Force were also mobilised to ensure secure transport and storage of confidential test materials.
The combined steps — from the Prime Minister’s delayed exit to tightened exam security and legal action against misinformation — were presented by authorities as efforts to protect candidates and restore confidence in the NEET process.
