Manipur Uproar: Office Ransacked After Death of Six Naga Hostages
The Manipur unit headquarters of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) at Liangmai Taphou in Senapati district was reportedly vandalised on Thursday, June 11, 2026, a day after unidentified miscreants ransacked the office during the night of June 10, 2026. Authorities and local sources said the attack followed a night of unrest in the area, though no group has claimed responsibility.
Video and photographs from the site showed office rooms and furniture in disarray, underscoring the anger and grief sweeping the region. Witnesses described damage to windows, doors and interior fittings, but there were no reports of injuries connected to the vandalism.
The incident occurred amid heightened tensions after the United Naga Council (UNC) confirmed that six civilians abducted on May 13, 2026, had been found dead. The UNC has alleged the victims were mutilated and dismembered and said armed militants were responsible; those claims have been reported as allegations and have not been independently verified in this dispatch.
The recovery of the bodies has sparked widespread condemnation and protests across Naga-inhabited areas, with community groups and organisations demanding justice for the victims and stronger action against those responsible. Protesters have also blamed the state government for failing to protect innocent Naga civilians who were allegedly held captive.
Police sources said no arrests had been confirmed at the time of filing and no injuries were reported from the vandalism. Statements from the Naga People’s Front and the Manipur government were awaited.
