Bloody Family Clash in Churaibari Leaves 6 Injured
Agartala, 10 June 2026: A violent clash between two branches of the same family in Ward No. 5 of South Baghan Gram Panchayat, under Churaibari Police Station in North Tripura, left six people injured on Wednesday morning. The injured were taken to Kadamtala Community Health Centre, and three were later referred to Dharmanagar District Hospital for advanced care.
Those hurt on one side were identified as Jalal Uddin (45), his wife Raina Begum (44) and their son Chalek Uddin (28). On the other side, the injured were named as Nur Uddin (62), his son Zakir Hossain (35) and daughter-in-law Reshma Begum.
Local sources said the incident began at about 7 a.m. after a minor verbal argument that quickly escalated. Members of both families reportedly attacked one another using blunt objects, resulting in injuries to people on both sides.
Chalek Uddin told reporters that his parents were assaulted by members of Nur Uddin’s family as they stepped out of their house. He said he was hit with a crowbar and struck by bricks while trying to intervene, suffering a severe head wound that required stitches. Nur Uddin, however, filed a counter-allegation, saying his family was the victim of a sudden attack.
With conflicting accounts from the two families, the precise cause and sequence of events remain unclear. Police at Churaibari confirmed that complaints have been lodged by both parties and said an investigation is under way.
