Iran War Escalates: Kuwait Intercepts Missile and Drone Attacks
Kuwaiti air defences intercepted hostile missile and drone attacks on Wednesday, the state news agency KUNA reported, citing the country’s army. The army did not identify where the threats originated.
KUNA quoted the army’s General Staff as saying that any explosions heard were the result of interceptions and urged the public to follow safety instructions and avoid any debris or unidentified objects.
The statements followed reports from Iranian media that sounds of explosions were heard in the area of Qeshm Island, though those reports did not specify a cause.
Bahrain’s interior ministry also said a warning siren was sounded and urged citizens and residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe place.
Kuwait has reported several hostile missile and drone incidents in recent days, some of which it later described as Iranian, but it did not attribute Wednesday’s threats to a specific actor.
Gulf countries, including Kuwait, have faced missile and drone attacks amid what the report described as the US-Israel war on Iran. Hostilities largely eased after a ceasefire came into effect in April, but the truce has been repeatedly tested by subsequent missile and drone strikes, including attacks on or near Gulf states that host US forces.
