NEET Paper Leak: Assam MLAs Demand Urgent Government Action
Congress MLAs Aminur Rashid Choudhury and Joy Prakash Das on May 24 in Guwahati voiced concern over the recent NEET paper leak controversy and urged the government to take strict action to safeguard students’ futures. The remarks came after both were felicitated by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).
Speaking to the media, Karimganj South MLA Aminur Rashid Choudhury described the alleged NEET paper leaks as “a serious concern” and called on authorities to take firm steps to prevent such incidents in future. “The recent NEET paper leaks are a serious concern. The government must act firmly to stop this,” he said.
Choudhury also reflected on his long association with student politics, saying his years in NSUI and the Youth Congress shaped his public life and leadership. “From my early days in NSUI, to serving as Vice President at district level, and President of Youth Congress, I have spent thirty years in organisation before becoming an MLA,” he said.
Highlighting the role of student politics in political grooming, Choudhury added, “We began as students, and this platform has brought us here. My best wishes to all students for the future.”
Congress MLA Joy Prakash Das, also speaking during the programme, underlined the importance of youth participation and student leadership. “I am happy today to be felicitated by NSUI. I always feel proud to have grown through NSUI,” he said, urging new members to serve students and society sincerely.
Das noted a rise in youth participation in Assam and urged those who have joined to work earnestly for the public good. “Many new youth have joined in Assam this time, and if they work sincerely in service of students and the people, there are great opportunities ahead,” he added. He also mentioned that the Congress had an organisational meeting scheduled later that evening, with an observer from Delhi expected to attend.
Their comments come amid continuing national concern over examination-related irregularities and growing demands from students and opposition parties for stronger safeguards, greater transparency, and accountability in competitive exams such as NEET.
