Massive $20B+ US Investment Pledge by Indian Firms — Ambassador Gor
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said on May 21, 2026, that Indian companies have committed more than $20 billion in investments in the United States, calling the flow of capital a major milestone that is deepening economic ties between the two countries. According to the ambassador, these commitments are already driving job creation, bolstering manufacturing and seeding innovation across multiple American states.
Gor told reporters that the investments are expected to generate thousands of jobs in sectors ranging from technology and pharmaceuticals to energy, automotive manufacturing, steel and advanced engineering. He described the surge in Indian investment as “an incredible achievement,” reflecting growing confidence among Indian firms in the long-term prospects of the U.S. market.
The ambassador said Indian companies increasingly view the United States not merely as an export destination but as a strategic, long-term partner for production, research and infrastructure. He noted that Indian businesses have expanded their U.S. presence through acquisitions, new manufacturing facilities, research centers and infrastructure projects.
Gor framed the investment announcement as part of a broader transformation in bilateral ties, with economic cooperation becoming one of the strongest pillars alongside defence, technology and strategic collaboration. He highlighted growing cooperation between Washington and New Delhi in critical areas such as semiconductors, clean energy, artificial intelligence and supply-chain resilience.
Several major Indian groups — including Tata Group, Reliance Industries, Infosys, Wipro, Mahindra and JSW Steel — as well as numerous pharmaceutical companies, have increased their U.S. activities over the past decade, the ambassador said, helping strengthen trade and industrial linkages between the two largest democracies.
Analysts cited by the envoy view the expanding Indian footprint in the United States as evidence of rising investor confidence despite global economic uncertainty, and expect the latest commitments to reinforce the strategic economic partnership as both countries push for greater two-way investment and diversified manufacturing networks.
