Seychelles High Commissioner Meets Assam Governor: Forging Key Ties
The High Commissioner of Seychelles to India, Harisoa Lalatiana Accouche, called on Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Lok Bhavan in Guwahati on Saturday, May 16, where the two leaders discussed avenues for future cooperation between Seychelles and Assam, including tourism, ecological conservation, education and cultural exchange. The meeting focused on strengthening people-to-people ties and exploring practical partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
Governor Acharya underscored the common strengths of Assam and Seychelles, noting both regions’ natural beauty, ecological richness and biodiversity. He said Seychelles is globally admired for its scenic landscapes and unique ecosystems, and that Assam likewise boasts rich cultural heritage, scenic attractions and diverse flora and fauna, making both well placed to collaborate on tourism and conservation initiatives.
Acharya highlighted Assam’s growing potential as a destination for tourism and cultural engagement and expressed hope that cultural exchange programmes would deepen mutual understanding. He also stressed the importance of joint work on ecological conservation, sustainable tourism, education and skill development as priorities for bilateral cooperation.
The Governor welcomed the prospect of academic exchanges and opportunities for students from Seychelles to study in Assam’s institutions. During the interaction, High Commissioner Accouche invited Governor Acharya to visit Seychelles. Both sides expressed optimism about building a long-lasting friendship and meaningful cooperation in the years ahead.
