Members of the District Council (MDCs) from the TIPRA Motha party on Monday reached a consensus on key leadership posts for the next term of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), agreeing to nominate Bhabha Ranjan Reang as Chairman, Runeil Debbarma as Chief Executive Member (CEM) and CK Jamatia as an Executive Member, sources said. The decision was taken at a meeting of newly elected MDCs held at Rajbari in Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala and was chaired virtually by Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma.
Senior party leaders, including Brishaketu Debbarma and MLAs S. Ranjit Debbarma and Biswajit Debbarma, attended the meeting. Party sources said members expressed confidence that the chosen leadership would continue the developmental and welfare programmes implemented during the previous council term.
The formal election for the posts of Chairman and CEM is scheduled for May 5 at the TTAADC Council Bhavan in Khumulwng, followed by the oath-taking ceremony on May 6, 2026, at the Nuai Auditorium Hall in Khumulwng. These steps will finalize the council’s leadership ahead of the new term.
The Tipra Motha party secured a decisive victory in the recent TTAADC elections, winning 24 of the 28 seats. This marks the party’s second consecutive sweep since its formation in 2019 and underscores its strong support among Tripura’s tribal communities and its continued advocacy for the demand for “Greater Tipraland.” Sources and party officials framed the leadership picks as part of a continuity plan to advance tribal welfare and regional development.
