Court Denies Bail to Accused Raj Kushwaha: Breaking Verdict
Guwahati: A local court in Shillong on Friday rejected the bail plea of accused Raj Kushwaha on technical grounds in the ongoing murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, marking a new turn in the proceedings.
The refusal comes days after co-accused Sonam Raghuvanshi, the deceased’s wife, was granted bail by the same court following procedural lapses in her arrest on April 28. Court records cited the arrest irregularities as the reason for her release, authorities said.
Raja Raghuvanshi, a transport businessman from Indore, went missing on May 23 last year while on his honeymoon in Meghalaya. His mutilated body was recovered on June 2 near a waterfall in Sohra in East Khasi Hills district, triggering a criminal investigation and multiple arrests.
After the body was found, Sonam and several others, including an alleged boyfriend, were taken into custody in connection with the case. Sonam spent several months in Shillong jail before being granted bail at her fourth hearing, a development confirmed by the victim’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi.
With Kushwaha’s bail plea dismissed, the case continues to produce differing legal outcomes for the accused. Investigations and court proceedings remain active as authorities pursue further evidence and hearings.
