The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Manipur, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, launched an official fact‑checking Facebook page titled “DIPR Manipur Fact Check” and held a one‑day awareness programme for journalists on the state’s welfare schemes at the DIPR Auditorium in Imphal. The launch and the workshop were attended by media professionals and government officials.

The newly created Facebook page is intended as an official channel to publish clarifications and verified information from the DIPR. The awareness programme that accompanied the launch focused on familiarising journalists with the details of government welfare schemes, explaining application procedures, eligibility criteria and recent updates so reporters can accurately inform the public.

Presentations and discussions during the event provided practical guidance for covering scheme-related news and for identifying and addressing misinformation. Organisers emphasised the role of the media in relaying verified information to citizens and encouraged reporters to use the DIPR’s official resources when verifying claims about government programmes.

By combining a dedicated fact‑check presence on social media with targeted training for journalists, the DIPR aims to strengthen public communication on welfare initiatives and reduce the spread of unverified or misleading information. Journalists who attended left with reference material and contact points for follow‑up verification from the department.
