Three Held After Shocking Attempt to Torch Tyre Workshop in Kangpokpi
Manipur Police have arrested three people in connection with an alleged attempt to set fire to a tyre workshop in Daili village, Kangpokpi district. The arrests followed an investigation into a First Information Report (FIR) registered at Kangpokpi Police Station, officials said.
The accused have been identified as Mangminhao Lotjem, Satgoulal Sitlhou and Seigunlal Lhanghal. Authorities say the trio was directly involved in the attempted arson reported earlier in the district; the men remain in custody as inquiries continue. The term “alleged” is used because formal charges and court proceedings are pending.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will follow according to due process. No additional details about motive, evidence recovered, or the condition of the workshop were disclosed in the initial statement.
Meanwhile, security forces have stepped up operations across the state, intensifying search operations and area-domination exercises in fringe and vulnerable locations across multiple districts. Area-domination exercises refer to coordinated patrols and deployments intended to secure territory, deter unlawful activity and reassure residents.
As part of the enhanced security measures, officials have set up 115 nakas — checkpoints — covering both hill and valley regions of Manipur. Authorities said these checkpoints are meant to monitor movement, prevent unlawful acts and help maintain public safety while investigations and security sweeps continue.
