According to Gogoi, around 11:30 pm on Saturday the Noonmati police station received information from OC Inspector Uttam Tamang about the abduction of 25‑year‑old Md Sanidul Ali by unidentified miscreants. Acting on the tip, officers launched a coordinated operation involving ICs and teams from the Sontoli, Topamari, Mandira and Chamariya police outposts, with technical assistance from reliable local sources in the Sontoli area.

The rescued men were identified as Md Sanidul Ali of Noonmati, Kamrup (Metro), and 28‑year‑old Imdadul Hoque of Kalgasia, Barpeta. Police said both victims are safe and under protective custody while inquiries continue.
