Police in Arunachal Pradesh said they have solved a burglary that led to the theft of Rs 16 lakh in cash from Bom Kakir School in Midpu under Doimukh, arresting a 19-year-old suspect and recovering part of the stolen money. According to officials, the incident occurred on the intervening night of April 4 and 5 and was registered as DMK Police Station Case No. 38/26 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused has been identified as Kipa Punung, also known as Mangal (19), son of Kipa Takap. Police said a partial recovery of the stolen cash was made from his residence in Tarajuli, Naharlagun, following disclosures by the suspect. Authorities added that efforts are continuing to trace and recover the remaining amount.
Superintendent of Police, Papumpare, Taru Gusar, commended the investigating team for cracking the case, specifically naming SDPO Radhe Obing and SI (SG) Nur Alom for their roles. Gusar also acknowledged the assistance provided by Naharlagun Police during the probe.
Investigators say the case remains under active inquiry as they follow leads to recover the balance of the funds and complete procedural legal formalities under the registered BNS sections. School and community officials have been informed as the police continue recovery efforts.
