US Sanctions Expose Iranian Weapons & UAV Procurement Networks

The United States on Tuesday imposed sanctions on 14 individuals, entities and aircraft linked to Iran, targeting networks the Treasury says were involved in procuring and transporting weapons and components for Tehran’s military programs. The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced the designations, saying those targeted are based in Iran, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates and that the measures aim to disrupt supply chains that sustain Iran’s military capabilities.

According to the Treasury, the move is intended to further U.S. efforts to deplete Iran’s ballistic missile stockpiles as Tehran seeks to rebuild production capacity. Officials also warned that Iran has increasingly relied on Shahed-series one‑way attack drones to strike U.S. interests and regional allies, including critical energy infrastructure.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the Iranian regime “must be held accountable for its extortion of global energy markets and indiscriminate targeting of civilians with missiles and drones.” He added, “Under President Trump’s leadership, as part of Economic Fury, Treasury will continue to follow the money and target the Iranian regime’s recklessness and those who enable it,” underscoring the administration’s financial‑pressure strategy.

The designations build on National Security Presidential Memorandum 2, under which U.S. agencies have been directed to restrict Iran’s ballistic missile program, counter the development of asymmetric and conventional weapons, prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and deny the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps access to resources that sustain its activities. Treasury officials said this is the fifth round of nonproliferation‑related designations following the reimposition of U.N. sanctions and restrictions on Iran on September 27, 2025.

Separately, a planned visit by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to Pakistan for a second round of talks with Iran has been put on hold after Tehran did not respond to U.S. proposals, a U.S. official told The New York Times. Iran has said it has not yet decided whether to resume negotiations with the United States.
