SKM Holds Urgent Review Meeting Ahead of PM Modi’s Sikkim Visit
A high-level review meeting convened by the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) was held at Manan Kendra on Monday, April 20, 2026, to finalise arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Sikkim on April 27 and 28, party officials said. The session, chaired by SKM acting president Kunga Nima Lepcha, reviewed logistics, security and public programmes ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival.
Ministers, MLAs, the Chief Minister’s advisors, political secretaries, senior party leaders and representatives from various government departments and affiliated organisations attended the meeting, according to an SKM press release. Members of the party’s youth and women’s wings, Self‑Help Groups, ASHA workers and civil society representatives were also present.
Discussion at the meeting focused on detailed assessments of coordination and management plans. Organisers mapped out responsibilities across teams for coordination, event management, volunteer deployment and traffic regulation to ensure the smooth execution of scheduled events. The SKM emphasised collective effort and discipline as essential for a dignified programme.
Representatives from 21 communities have been invited to participate in cultural segments and the planned roadshows, the party said. The cultural wing will coordinate community participation in processions and stage presentations during the visit.
Per the itinerary shared at the review, the Prime Minister is scheduled to land at Libing Helipad on April 27 and proceed on a roadshow through Deorali, Deorali Bazaar, West Point Mall and Hospital Dara before concluding at Samman Bhawan. On April 28 he is expected to address a public gathering at Paljor Stadium.
During the meeting, officials and departmental representatives provided progress updates on assigned tasks. Arun Upreti, minister and SKM general secretary, urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure the visit’s success.
In his closing remarks, acting president Kunga Nima Lepcha called on party wings and concerned organisations to carry out their duties with sincerity, dedication and discipline to ensure the Prime Minister’s visit proceeds smoothly, the SKM release added.
