Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has publicly criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over what he describes as a significant administrative oversight leading to an unjust two-year ban from the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In their statement, they noted, “We’ve remained quiet publicly over the last six weeks because we did not wish to create or cause any more animosity for the Pakistan Super League/Pakistan Cricket Board than they had already created for themselves.” However, facing a torrent of online abuse directed at Muzarabani, they felt compelled to speak out.
The agency condemned the hostile comments flooding Muzarabani’s social media accounts, labeling such behavior as disgraceful. They emphasized that the negativity had reached an unacceptable level, stating, “The so-called ‘fans’ that fill his social media DM’s with vile hatred, you are an utter disgrace to humanity, and you are cowards.”
Muzarabani’s situation escalated when Islamabad United extended a verbal offer on February 13, 2026, for the upcoming PSL season. However, the deal hinged on receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Zimbabwe Cricket, which could only be processed upon receipt of a formal written contract from the PSL. Alarmingly, no contract was ever delivered.
As weeks passed without communication from both Islamabad United and the PCB, Muzarabani received an offer from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on February 27. He formally signed, joining their squad as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman amid evolving political tensions in the cricket community.
World Sports Xchange clarified the legal standpoint regarding Muzarabani’s status with the PSL: “You simply cannot breach a contract you have never received.” The agency highlighted that Muzarabani had not been drafted through the PSL auction and had no formal contract in place, thus no legal obligation to the league.
Even if one were to consider a hypothetical violation, the two-year ban appears excessively punitive, especially in comparison to penalties imposed on players who have genuinely breached definitive contracts in the past. The agency urged the PSL to “gracefully withdraw the ban” and recognize the issue as an administrative error.
