Agartala, April 3, 2026 — Dharmanagar saw a heated political rally today as BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee launched a blistering attack on the opposition, raising pointed questions about recent brutal killings in Dharmanagar and elsewhere in the state and alleging atrocities during the opposition’s tenure. The rally came as campaigning intensified ahead of local elections in the constituency.
Speaking to journalists after the event, Bhattacharjee said the BJP’s symbol, the “Lotus,” “is once again flourishing in Dharmanagar,” and pointed to the energy displayed by party workers and supporters. He recalled his visit when BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborty filed nomination papers and argued that the turnout and enthusiasm at today’s rally signalled strong local support for the party.
Bhattacharjee also predicted a decisive result for the BJP in the constituency, claiming the opposition would not be able to “open their account.” He framed his remarks around law-and-order concerns and the electorate’s alleged rejection of the opposition’s past governance.
Adding a lighter note to the rally, Bhattacharjee highlighted a spirited turnout competition across the town’s 55 polling booths, saying residents were competing to mobilize the highest voter participation. He described the rivalry as creating “a wave of joyful participation” across Dharmanagar, an angle the party is using to showcase grassroots engagement ahead of voting.
