Reports say the violence occurred at Barchungjar near Chapanala, where a group of BJP workers allegedly vandalised an election office of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and assaulted party workers present there.
The alleged attack prompted retaliation by AJP workers and further clashes between the two groups, with multiple people from both sides injured before police intervened. The AJP has accused BJP workers of instigating the violence and described the assault as pre-planned.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as campaigning continues across the state ahead of polling day, and investigations into the incidents were reported to be ongoing.
