Tribal Girls of Dima Hasao Meet Tripura Governor on Assam Rifles Tour
Agartala, March 26 — Twenty-one girl students from Dima Hasao met the Governor of Tripura today during an inter‑state educational tour organised by the 21 Sector Assam Rifles, marking a high point in a programme aimed at promoting education and digital literacy among tribal youth.
The students, drawn from various tribal communities in Assam, are receiving training at the Free Computer Learning Centre run by the A Ray of Hope (AROH) Society in Haflong. They travelled to Tripura accompanied by eight volunteers who support their academic and personal development.
During the visit, the young learners shared personal stories of resilience and ambition, describing how access to education and digital skills has expanded their aspirations. The interaction with the Governor was described as inspiring and motivational, reinforcing the students’ growing confidence to pursue independence and leadership.
The Governor praised the students’ courage and ambition and commended the Assam Rifles and AROH for their efforts to uplift marginalised communities through education. Officials said the exchange boosted the learners’ morale and underscored the importance of knowledge, self‑belief and perseverance.
The tour, designed to broaden perspectives for participants many of whom are leaving their home district for the first time, includes visits to the Albert Ekka War Memorial, Ujjayanta Palace, Neer Mahal and the ICP at Agartala. Organisers said the programme reflects the Assam Rifles’ ongoing commitment to nation‑building and social outreach in the Northeast by empowering tribal girls through education and opportunity.
