The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has named Phanidhar Basumatari as its official candidate for the 15‑Dhekiajuli Assembly constituency in the Assam Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, 2026. The party said the move finalises its nomination for that seat ahead of the state polls.
The nomination was confirmed after approval by the UPPL’s Central Working Committee and followed a recommendation from the party’s Core Committee. Party sources described the decision as the outcome of the internal selection process.
With Basumatari’s selection, the UPPL says it has completed its list of candidates for the April 9, 2026 elections. The party added that the nomination decision has been issued for wider public circulation.
The announcement closes the UPPL’s candidate selection phase for the forthcoming Assam elections and formally sets its representation for the 15‑Dhekiajuli constituency on the party’s electoral slate.
