AINU’s Rangoli Competition for World Kidney Day Raises Awareness
The Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU) in Visakhapatnam organised a rangoli competition on Sunday, March 15, 2026, as part of World Kidney Day activities to raise public awareness about kidney health and the importance of early detection and prevention of kidney disease. The event aimed to combine cultural expression with health education to reach a broad cross-section of the community.
Visitors took part enthusiastically, producing colourful rangoli designs that illustrated themes such as kidney function, the need for early screening, and preventive care. Participants used visual motifs and captions to convey simple health messages, turning traditional art into an accessible tool for public health outreach.
Organisers said the initiative was intended to spark conversations about risk factors and the steps people can take to protect their kidneys, including routine check-ups and lifestyle changes. By presenting information through familiar cultural formats, AINU sought to lower barriers to engagement and encourage more people to seek screening and advice.
The rangoli competition added a community-focused dimension to World Kidney Day observances in Vizag, reinforcing preventive messages and reminding residents that early intervention can help reduce complications and improve long-term kidney health.
