NEGC 2026 at USTM: Transformative Research & Graduate Innovation
The eighth edition of the North East Graduate Congress (NEGC) 2026 will be held at the ISTM Campus of the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) in Shillong from March 26 to 28. Organisers say the three-day event will bring together undergraduate students from colleges and universities across the region for academic sessions, career workshops and industry engagement aimed at enhancing employability and innovation.
In a press statement, Er Fidel War (Honorary Director, ERDF), Dr Mehzabeen Rahman (Principal Secretary, USTM), Dr Rashmi Baruah (Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration, USTM) and Dr Amilia Nongbet (Head, Department of Botany) outlined the programme and encouraged student participation. They described NEGC as a platform to connect students with academia, industry leaders and entrepreneurs and to expose attendees to emerging career pathways.
The congress will feature skill-building sessions on topics such as innovation, entrepreneurship, career development and research. Organisers said the schedule includes focused panels and workshops designed to help students prepare for the job market and explore start-up opportunities.
Concurrently, the One North East Music Festival will be staged as part of NEGC-2026, promising live performances from notable artists. Confirmed performers include rock veteran Lou Majaw, Madhubanti Bagchi, Aditya Narayan and Dharmesh Yelande, with regional acts such as Hillphonic and other local artists also on the bill.
Students and institutions interested in participating have been asked to register through their institutions or directly with the organisers. For registration and enquiries, organisers provided the contact numbers 8638686373 and 9613719437.
USTM, located near the Assam–Meghalaya border at Baridua, holds a NAAC Grade ‘A’ accreditation and is ranked among India’s top 200 universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), organisers noted while highlighting the university’s role as host.
